Vision: Plastic ID cards is an ever growing market. Long have the days gone where cards were only used as a means of payment. Plastic cards are now used as identification, transport, security access, loyalty systems, gift vouchers etc. This is a reality for even the smallest of companies. The process of making a card is a battle with cost and a very time consuming endeavour. Usually bound with smaller projects, investment in a card printer is not always an option, the costs being high and often unjustified for low to medium card output. In accordance with phenerics general philosophy to give the user freedom and control to create what he/she needs, our first product was a web based card editing software : the Carditor. Solution: Using a java applet users can now, comfortably add or even design their card layouts online through their browser. On Mac or Windows, the Carditor supports all platforms. With just one button the card is uploaded securely via a webservice to your card manufacturing company, who can then print the cards, the process is totally lossless quality wise. The Carditor allows direct interaction with printing hardware without the need for an intermediary conversion process. It is a simple system which ensures any user can create the design he wishes , while more advanced users will find it a great interface between their needs in personalised designs and card manufacturers.
